Everything you need to know about deleting your Zan Elimu account and what happens to your data.
How to Delete Your Account
To delete your Zan Elimu account, you have several options:
• Through the mobile app: Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account
• Email us at support@zanelimu.com with your account deletion request
• Contact us through our support page with your full name and email address
We will verify your identity before processing the deletion request to ensure account security.
What Data Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
• Your personal information (name, email, phone number)
• Your child's profile and learning progress
• All quiz results and performance data
• Your subscription and payment history
• All notes and bookmarks you've created
• Your account preferences and settings
This deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
Deletion Timeline
Here's what happens when you request account deletion:
• Immediate: Your account is deactivated and you can no longer log in
• Within 24 hours: Your personal data is marked for deletion
• Within 30 days: All your data is permanently removed from our active systems
• Within 90 days: Data is removed from backup systems and logs
Some anonymized usage statistics may be retained for service improvement purposes only.
Data Retention Requirements
Some data may need to be retained for legal or security reasons:
• Financial records may be kept for tax and auditing purposes (up to 7 years)
• Essential logs for security and fraud prevention (up to 1 year)
• Communications regarding legal matters or disputes
This retained data is anonymized where possible and only accessible to authorized personnel.
Children's Data Protection
We take special care with children's data deletion:
• Children's personal information is deleted immediately upon request
• Learning progress data is completely removed within 30 days
• No children's data is retained for any purpose after deletion
• Parents/guardians can request deletion of their child's data at any time
We comply with COPPA, GDPR, and other international children's privacy laws.
